Good News of the Week

March 27, 2020

Dear SD ECLC Families,

Your SD ECLC staff are here for you!  The Home Learning Website with instructional lessons for our preschool and kindergarten students for the week of March 30 will be posted by Monday morning.  Check out our "Hello" video!  Under Morning Meeting please see our Wear the Cape video and we challenge our students to make a cape at home as a social-emotional activity.  We miss all of you!

Meals for eligible students continue to be available for pickup at Raritan High School on Mondays and Wednesday from 10am till noon.

There will be no meals served the week of April 13th while school is closed and not operational for spring break.

The District has partnered with the RAINE Foundation to deliver meals for families who are unable to pick them up – call 732-264-8402 ext. 1109, to arrange this service.

Any family that has experienced a change in their financial position can complete a free and reduced lunch application at any time through the parent portal.  These are being reviewed and processed daily.

Please access your children’s instruction by visiting Sycamore Drive ECLC Home Learning site at:  http://bit.ly/justaclickaway

Please note the Preschool and Kindergarten tabs have been condensed under one heading "LEARN Boards".  This tabs will bring you to the “LEARN” board filled with various websites for each subject area.  Kindergarten students have login and password information for Math Seeds and Reading Eggs and QR codes were in your child's kindergarten packet to access Seesaw.

Be well.  Be smart.

News & Announcements

School Closing Update - March 25, 2020

Good day Hazlet community. I begin by thanking all our parents/families for their substantial efforts in adjusting to this new reality. Officially, I write to announce that the District closure will extend through spring break to Sunday, April 19 at which time we will look to the governor for additional direction. We will honor the in-place hiatus (April 10-19) as is in order to shut down the computers, close the text books, sequester the Google docs, take a deep breath (or two) and recharge those batteries. The third marking period will conclude as scheduled and grades will be posted according to the in-place timeline. This week, I have received multiple emails from administrators, teachers, parents and even students recognizing the need for virtual instruction though feeling the strain of such an adjustment. As such, please encourage your kids to stay the course a bit longer as a break from this unfamiliar routine is literally just around the corner.

Please note: As per governmental mandate, no building permits for use of any of our district facilities will be honored until further notice.

Coronavirus Update

Good afternoon. I am providing you with an update regarding the Coronavirus. At this point, there has been no reported case of the disease in our community. Our District continues to monitor the developments very closely and we will make you aware should the situation intensify. We have increased our schedule of regularly cleaning and disinfecting our school and will stay abreast of all notifications from external stakeholders. Additionally, our Central Office is working in tandem with the mayor's office to keep the lines of communication open. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns you may have and rest assured that the safety and good health of your children remain our utmost priority.
